What kind of traits would you give to a character, who isn’t the antagonist, to make him so despicable that you can’t help but cheer when he’s finally killed off?

I'm writing a dark comedy, and my protagonist really hates his stepbrother, but I'm kind of stuck on what kind of traits to give him, in order to justify my protagonist's hatred for him.
