“Do not send us unsolicited contributions”– can I anyway?
I've been contacting publications badgering them with ideas and articles, and a lot of them tell you on the contact page not to send them unsolicited contributions.
Why is this? I can understand they probably get sent a lot of crap which is boring to read through, but what if 1/100 or so was quality work, wouldn't they miss out?
Would sending a contribution anyway have any adverse affects, like they blacklist you are something?
Trying to get my head round it, thanks!
