Bookmarks – low cost advertising | KDP Amazon

Most of the printed materials are made for advertising and business promoting, like: business cards, magnets, fliers, stickers and such. Although the materials I have mentioned are just a small sample of  all printed materials which are available, they are the most frequently ordered.

The big problem with business cards and fliers is that they are thrown away shortly after been received, and if they are kept by the receiver –  they wear fast.

This is the reason why magnets and stickers were invented. They are attached to surfaces hoping they’ll stay there for good. But still they suffer from public revulsion. People are sick and tired of the flood of advertising and promoting printed materials which are falling on them wherever they go.

Bookmarks receive better attitude. Why? Because they are useful. Everyone is glad to have a happy colored fine designed bookmark to mark the page he is on instead of folding the book pages corners or using an ugly torn piece of paper.

Let’s imagine this picture: someone is sitting and reading a book peacefully. With his finger tips he holds the bookmark to the rear cover of the book. On the bookmark there is a printed image of a cold bottle of a soft drink. Without noticing it – he’ll stop reading for a moment, go to the refrigerator and look for something to drink. The bookmark arouses a subconscious need for a drink. It works the same with a candy bar or a snack. This is the ultimate advertiser.

Such an effect we wouldn’t get from a business card, a magnet, a sticker or a flier. Whenever one of those printed materials is used for advertising and promoting – the massage is direct, bold  and harsh. You have to deliberately focus on the written letters in order to intentionally concentrate on what does it have to say to you. It is tiresome.

Using bookmarks for advertising is much more sophisticated. The platform itself doesn’t arouse antagonism. It delivers the advertising massage not deliberately in a civilized manner, while enjoying reading. The seeds of commercial influence are planted in a cultivated soil.
