The Annual Serpentine Gallery Pavillon is Comprised of Stacked Hollow Blocks

Each year London creates a new and fresh design for its Serpentine Gallery Pavillon that is located in the Kensington Gardens as a nod to the current themes in architecture. This year BIG is the team that put together the design of the Pavillon using a series of stacked hollow bricks to create an angular tower made entirely out of blocks. The tower is open on either end allowing visitors to walk through the space and remain connected to the outdoor while in an enclosed space.

The tower features over 1,800 blocks that are entirely hollow in the centre to form the exterior facade of the tower. The blocks are held in place using sturdy aluminum struts that provide support to the building.
