Ways to fill traveling from A to B writing

Ways to fill traveling from A to B

So recently I've spend a week trying to figure out how to describe the travel itself. I have a character in place A, he's waiting for a train. Story continues when he comes to a place B. I need to fill some of the time he spends on a train. I can't find what with should I fill this travel. Not meaningwise but what principles and techniques do authors use to fill out time character spends on a train. Flashback is not an option in my case, also I can't talk about story or something else in the meantime. I'm looking for something else I can't really remember any case from books I've read. Cheers
