Want to begin, what are some good resources?
I have never written before, basically. Not in at least ten years, anyway.
I have looked at the FAQ here – but it didn't contain what I was looking for.
And namely, some place where I can talk with other authors, and get motivation for actually doing stuff, and maybe posting something for feedback. Someplace where it's easy enough to do all this, too. And maybe learn stuff too.
Because, yes, the advice I've seen thrown around – including in this sub's FAQ – is "to get started, just write&read".
While it's certainly something to be done, I think it's extremely simplistic. The problem with me, so far, is that I've attempted to do stuff in a relative vacuum; that is, that for all I can attempt (with scarce motivation), or even if I read some "hot to"s, I do not have a direction, nor stimulation to actually get and put forward ideas. Not even the capacity to judge OTHER people's ideas, much less my own and form new ones myself! (Well, maybe I'm just not smart enough for that – just another possibility).
So I guess the only thing is to work on it, and on myself, all-around and in a way such that I will not just let up after a bit because there's nothing to go on to. And, to reiterate, I need an environment that helps – as much as possible – to do that. If you know of any . . .
